Midfield

Antonio Valencia – 5

A bit of a nondescript performance from the returning full-back. Never really threatened in Spurs’ half but didn’t exactly sure up a shaky defence.

Fred – 6

Manchester United’s latest Brazilian started the match well, harassing and pressing Tottenham well. Energy waned towards the end of the match and misplaced a few passes but overall one of the only slightly positive performances on the night.

Nemanja Matic – 5

Not one of Matic’s best performances for the Red Devils as you could see the Serbian lacked match fitness. A few passes went a stray as well as being dispossessed for Dele Alli’s golden chance in the first half.

Paul Pogba – 5

Manchester United fans were hopeful if one player could grab the game by the scruff of the neck it would be Paul Pogba. But despite a decent first half his influence petered out much like United.

Luke Shaw – 8

MOTM. Another top performance from revived left-back Luke Shaw. He stood out like a sore thumb, for the right reasons, in an average United performance.

His terrific start to the season as been rewarded with a well deserved England call-up, unfortunately at the expense of teammate Ashley Young though.
