Michael Carrick leaves legacy at Manchester United
By Wyatt Miner
Manchester United houses some of the best players in the world. However, the club and fans said goodbye to a legend at Old Trafford.
Michael Carrick played his last game in a Manchester United shirt in the last game against Watford. While he has not played much at all this season, the English midfielder made an impact early on in the match.
In the first half, Carrick played a ball over the top of the defense to find Juan Mata onside. Then, Marcus Rashford received a pass from Mata, and he fired the ball into the net. Carrick has a history of executing perfect passes, and he does it so well given his many years of experience. Additionally, Carrick’s contribution in the Watford match reminds United fans what they will be missing come next season.
Michael Carrick was a player that remained once Sir Alex Ferguson left. What has the captain accomplished in his years at Manchester United?
Carrick captained the Manchester United team for the 2017/18 season whenever he took the field.
The captain began his career at United in 1998. Younger fans may not know this, but that was the year Manchester United completed the treble. The treble United attained was a combination of the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Champions League trophies. Manchester United has 20 Premier League titles, but the Red Devils have only few Champions League trophies.
Carrick made 481 appearances for United. In those 481 appearances, Carrick found the net for a grand total of 24 times. Perhaps more representative of his career, the Englishman assisted his team 40 times. All of Carrick’s passes combined add up to a total over 18,000 passes.
Carrick has a nice collection of trophies as well. He won the Premier League multiple times, the Champions League, and the Europa League. For all of the years dedicated to the game, Carrick has a nice result of all of his hard work.

Since 1998, Carrick worked his way into the first team and created a Legacy nobody will soon forget. It seems highly unlikely that Michael Carrick will take part in the FA Cup final. However, if he does play, he will get the chance to add on to his legacy. Either way, Carrick will finish the season as a Champion.
