Manchester United aim to delay City’s title party
By Wyatt Miner
In the coming match week, Manchester United battles Manchester City in Premier League action with the title on the line.
Manchester United look to keep Manchester City from securing another league title. Additionally, United have a tough match ahead of them as City are in remarkable form.
Going into the latest Manchester Derby, there are a few things Mourinho and his men should be aware of.
For example, Manchester City’s attacking power is lethal. With Sergio Aguero up top, he will give United problems. However, every team in the league struggles to best City’s attacking power. The Argentinian can score from anywhere, and de Gea must be in top form to keep him off of the score sheet.
In addition, Kevin de Bruyne will be essential to breaking down the Manchester City squad. On the season, the Belgian has seven goals and fifteen assists. Manchester United must treat de Bruyne like Eden Hazard in the way they play. If they take City’s playmaker out of the game, United can counter attack.
While Manchester City have a lethal attack, United can produce goals when least expected to. With a roster that has Lukaku, Sanchez, AND de Gea, Manchester United can stand up to the most dominant force in the Premier League. Additionally, Lukaku knows how to position himself to score goals.
Lukaku is a smart striker because he is not just one dimensional. Furthermore, the powerful Belgian can shake off defenders, shield the ball, as well as assist on goal. Lukaku can become one of the most dangerous strikers in England with the right players in the midfield.
Which Manchester United man would be best for shutting down City’s midfield?
Mourinho should think carefully about who he chooses for this task. In the past, McTominay and Herrera have had favor in Mourinho’s eyes. Moreover, both players shut down Hazard in the past two seasons. Perhaps, one of the two players could be utilized against Guardiola’s City team.
However, Herrera has not played too much this season due to injury, so it is possible that he could not make an appearance for the team on Saturday. In that case, that leaves McTominay for the job. While the Scot is still young, he is still up to the task. Earlier in the season, Mourinho chose the 21 year old to shut down Hazard. Possibly, McTominay could get the nod in Manchester United’s crucial game with City.

In the end, Mourinho must prepare his men for one of the toughest games of the season. Certainly, the Red Devils will not overlook their cross city rivals. Manchester City is one of the most dangerous teams in Europe scoring way more goals than they concede. While City expect to lift silverware on Saturday, United are aware of their aspirations, and they will do everything in their power to keep that from happening.
