Anthony Martial is fresh off of being named Manchester United’s player of the month for October, but he is still craving more playing time at the club.

Martial, who has won the player of the month twice this season for Manchester United, spoke to SFR Sport about his role at the club.

"“When you come off the bench, the other players are warmed up, they’re totally in the game, and you have to get into it straight away,” Martial said. “I prefer to start the game, I have more time to get myself into the game."

“It’s easier to start the game,” he added.

The 21-year old has competed with Marcus Rashford for a spot in the starting XI this season, and both players have impressed with their given opportunities.

Last year Martial struggled to break into the side, and there were constant rumors surrounding his relationship with Jose Mourinho. However, Mourinho worked his magic with the Frenchman and now he’s enjoying new life at Manchester United.

"“I feel a lot better this season, and I hope I’m going to continue like that,” Martial added. “If I’m with the squad, you’ll see I’m one of the first to have a laugh. But outside of that, I’m reserved, I don’t show my emotions too much. Even if you don’t see me smile, I’m still very happy.”"

These words are music to United fans. After a 2016/17 where Martial looked unsettled, it’s great to see the 2015 Golden Boy happy again at the club.

And despite his competition with Rashford, Martial has embraced his role on the team and is confident in his abilities.

"“I have faith in my qualities, and I think the manager has confidence in me, too. It’s up to me to continue putting in good performances, and if I do that, I think I’ll play a bit more.”"

There’s no doubt that Martial and Rashford are two of the most talented prospects in Europe.

A front three consisting of these two along with Romelu Lukaku would be ideal one day. This attacking trident could potentially terrorize Europe for years to come if they meshed.

However, for the time being, Martial is just focused on getting more playing time.

“I have to concentrate more, I have to give everything, not hold anything back, really give everything. I think that will be how things will go well.”
