Manchester United Analysis: The rise of Ander Herrera
By Rajat Singh
Showing promise
Ander Herrera has always been pinned as the passionate one by the Old Trafford faithful. While the past few seasons have not been the best for the Red Devils, there have been moments of brilliance shown by players and Herrera has always propagated the passion through the team and the fans respect that.
The Spaniard plays it out on the field and shows a lot of heart. Herrera has been vocal on the field reminding fans of Roy Keane, who was a true leader of his troops. With Carrick in the twilight of his career and Herrera emerging as the potential leader of the players, it could be possible that the Spaniard receives the mantle of the Vice Captain from the Englishman soon enough.
Paul Scholes, Herrera’s role model has also heaped praise on the Spanish international. Herrera has spoken previously about how Scholes inspired him in his teenage. The way the United legend used to work on his passing ability and could change flanks with long lob passes with utmost ease is something that Herrera tries to mirror in the games.
While his passing ability has never been questioned, it is the deadly shots from him which wreak havoc. Herrera’s long shots have been a delight to watch as he has proven himself as a great long distance shooter finding the back of the net almost every time he lines up to take the shot. Very Scholes-esque.
