1. Anthony Martial

The player who was labeled as a waste of money before the season started has silenced his doubters. Martial has been far and away the best outfield player for Manchester United in the League this season, often single-handedly generating attacks from nothing (his first goal in the League against Liverpool is evidence of such).

If not for another tremendous season from David de Gea, the Frenchman would have easily been voted Player of the Year for the Red Devils. Despite being one of the youngest members of the team, he had the greatest impact by far. His 11 goals and four assists made him the most prolific attacker, even with the carousel of left-backs to support him.

Had Luke Shaw been healthy this season, who knows what Martial could have accomplished. The limits are unthinkable heading into next season, when the French international might further impress his critics. It’s difficult to pick out a weakness in the 20-year-old’s game – he can play on either wing or at striker without a drop in performance.

Whoever the next manager is, he’ll be intent on building a team around the young prospects. Martial headlines that class, a group which also includes Rashford and Timothy Fosu-Mensah, among others. Anthony Martial truly looks to be the future of Manchester United.
