Reds on Reddit: Opinion on Opinions #12
Despite the season having finished, there are still plenty of things to talk about. Luckily, there is a great place to talk about these things and that is over on Reddit. With each team having their own section, for Manchester United fans it is the Red Devils subreddit.
The young Uruguayan was the first signing made by David Moyes but has only played a few games for the under-21’s since signing.
Varela was loaned to Real Madrid Castilla (aka Real Madrid B) last season, and was thought to be quite the talent. But Madrid did not exercise their option to make the deal permanent and Varela is headed back to Manchester.
However he has been linked with another move, this time to Udinese in Italy. That deal could be worth 7 million despite him not having played in a United shirt yet. This may seem like quite the gamble; especially for that kind of money with such a low number of appearances.

It may also be rather suspicious that he hasn’t played even a cup game for United yet, and there was talk of possible homesickness playing a role. He might not be cut out for a future in the Premier League. Only time will tell.
Varela may have a spot on the plane for the upcoming tour of the United States of America, and if he performs well then who knows what the season may have in store for him? Nothing is certain for the youngster which for him is both good and bad. But 7 million? I’d take that for an unknown quantity.
Why is everyone so obsessed about a guy (Falcao) who flopped on a year long loan?? Who cares where he ends up, he’s not good enough for our team. If he was, he’d be on the books as our player. (from finbarwaterford)
There is a lot of talk going around at the moment that Radamel Falcao could be going to Chelsea, on another season-long loan despite his struggles at Manchester United. This has divided opinion. Some have no problem with him going to a Premier League rival but others see it as a sort of betrayal.
The issue here is that he is not a Manchester United player anymore and he didn’t exactly have the best season in a United shirt. So it shouldn’t be so much of an issue that he might play for Chelsea.
There is no loyalty in football anymore, even Steven Gerrard has moved clubs. That leaves arguably just Totti and Iniesta as the games enduring one-club men still playing. Lots of players play for lots of clubs, and Falcao is no exception. If it was Rooney then yes, people would have a right to be aggrieved. But Falcao? No way.
It doesn’t mean he will be a sure-fire success at Chelsea either, having struggled so much at United due to the physicality of the Premier League and work-rate required to succeed with no winter break and plenty of midweek fixtures and long trips to navigate too.

So I think finbar is absolutely right here, and there should be no issue with Falcao moving to Chelsea. He might not even sign, it is all just speculation at the moment. There are plenty of other strikers in the sea.
