Manchester United unveil new home kit for 2014-15 season

Manchester United have unveiled their new home shirt for the 2014-15 season, with the side now sponsored by automobile manufacturer Chevrolet. The strip will feature the common red shirt, white shorts and black socks combination that United have been accustomed to, and is reminiscent of the old Umbro shirt circa 2000-02.

Another positive that stems from the unveiling is that Japan international Shinji Kagawa is at the forefront of the photo, which all but ends any speculation of the midfielder leaving the club this summer and suggests he has a key role in the upcoming campaign. Reports had suggested that Kagawa was interested in talks with incoming United boss Louis van Gaal about his role at the club.

Kagawa had also been linked to a move back to old club Borussia Dortmund, with some suggesting he could be used as part of a cash-plus-player deal for Marco Reus. Though Reus would be an excellent addition to the United side, losing Kagawa would make it a bittersweet signing.

The usual suspects in Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney are in the foreground of the photo, with the two likely to battle it out for captaincy next season after Nemanja Vidic left the club.

Check out the tweet sent by the official Manchester United page, which also unveiled the home goalkeeping kit for next season. The shirts will be available from July 16, with the away jersey yet to be unveiled to the public.

Manchester United will wear the kit for the first time in a friendly against LA Galaxy on July 23.
