Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez deal in the pipeline?

After it emerged that two sought-after stars share the same agent, a deal involving Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez could make Manchester United fans very happy. Okay, so United may not be getting both players, but that is an unrealistic feat for a side that finished 7th last season.

According to Sport Witness, the agent who represents both Vidal and Sanchez is working on a deal that will take Vidal from Juventus to Old Trafford, with the Old Lady signing Sanchez after freeing up funds. Barcelona, the club who will sell Sanchez, may use the funds to launch an all-out assault on Monaco and Columbia superstar James Rodriguez, who has been the star of the 2014 World Cup thusfar. Barcelona have also been linked with a £80 million move for Luis Suarez.

Both an integral part to Chile’s World Cup campaign, which ended via penalties against Brazil in the round of 16, Vidal and Sanchez have been linked with the biggest clubs in Europe. Though not yet confirmed that either player wants to leave the club, the majority of reports suggest that a summer move is very much on the cards.

With the level of competition for Vidal and Sanchez at Juventus and Barcelona respectively, a guaranteed place in the starting XI is hard to come by. One thing Juventus are looking to strengthen is their attack, and Sanchez would likely receive more first team football than when competing with a plethora of talent such as Neymar, Messi, Pedro and Iniesta at Barcelona. Vidal, meanwhile, has been competing with midfield maestros such as Pogba, Marchisio and Pirlo.

New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is hoping to strengthen his midfield after capturing the services of Ander Herrera last month, with a tenacious centre midfielder like Arturo Vidal top of his wish list. Though a fee of around £40 million may be needed to prize the top talent away from Juve, there is plenty of wriggle room left in the Dutchman’s transfer kitty.

Alexis Sanchez, meanwhile, may be available for around £30 million, though has also been linked with summer moves to the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

Like any rumours surrounding the club, this could prove to be fictitious, though it is hardly a secret that United are interested in Arturo Vidal, while Juventus are planning a swoop for Alexis Sanchez.
